Ropes of octagonal crystal flows from the long bronze arms to give the chandelier beautiful negative space. This, combined with the long center stem and bronze elements at the crown, produces a sense of length and balance. The piece also features cut and polished crystal plaquettes as well as a delicate tulip crystal finial.

Historic Art Nouveau Bronze and Crystal Chandelier Originally hung in Gare D’Orsay, now known as Musée D’Orsay

This one of a kind Art Nouveau chandelier was originally hung from the Musée D’Orsay building, one of the most well known Museums in Paris. The museum was originally built as a train station known as Gare D’Orsay, and the piece would have been one of a handful of chandeliers helping to light travelers on their way. It reflects the immaculate architectural elements of the space and features unusual teardrop shaped crystal from the top bobeches, cut and polished crystal plaquettes, and a stamp on the bronze base. The piece dates back to the mid 20th century and is known as a ‘bureau de cylindre,’ or cylinder desk, pertaining to the revolving cylindrical top which can be opened and closed. 19th Century French Louis XVI Hand-Carved Gilt Bevelled Mirror

The piece dates back to the 19th century and is gilt, meaning simply yet elegantly that it’s covered in gold leaf, and features a beveled center and side panels. The top is adorned with a pair of birds on a wreath, a flaming torch, quivered arrows, and finally gorgeous garlands cascading over either side.  The piece may have originally been created as a wedding gift as a pair of birds were depicted to symbolize love and were most often seen included in gifts for newlyweds. The flame and arrows were symbols as well, for longevity and justice respectively.
