This elaborate French Louis XVI bronze d'ore chandelier dates back to the early 19th century. The casting is immaculate, starting with the acanthus leaves adorning the crown and top of the stem, and venturing down towards the three cherubs playing horns at the center. Imagining these golden cherubs reflected in the original candle light gives the chandelier a truly magical feeling. The cups and bobeches are filled with detail. The leafy bunch of grapes as a finial at the bottom is likely an ode to bacchus, the god of wine. The 32 lights combined with the themes of wine and music produce a unique and detailed piece.

Russian Rock Crystal and Bronze D’Ore Chandelier, 19th Century
Item Number: 6644
This exquisite Russian chandelier features incredibly fine rock crystal and a bronze d’ore frame. The rock crystal can be found most notably in the magnificent and massive centerpiece which surrounds the stem, as well as the spears on the upper tier. The shape of the piece, the arms especially, is extremely unique, and the detail on the cups and bobeches is incredibly fine. Notice the bronze hooks draping from the rock crystal center, a shape mirrored in the bronze elements resting on the rock crystal spears. The arms on the upper tier wrap around themselves giving added detail and movement, and pieces of amethyst can be found alternating at the top. The piece dates back to the 1860s
