This Louis XVI painted dining room table features a richly carved apron with block marguerites on all four corners. The French antique piece dates back to the 19th century, circa 1850. The French antique piece sports the originl brass drawer pulls, and a top decorated with raised Japanese characters, a house in the distance, pagoda, and bridge. The piece is beautifully adorned throughout with flora and fauna. The word chinoiserie Originated in France in the 18th century, meaning “in the Chinese manner”, when anything Chinese or Japanese export was a display of wealth. This is when French furniture was lacquered and decorated with Chinese scenes in figures.
