This marvelous and historic pair of Napoleon III hand-painted Courtille porcelain vases feature bronze d’ore mounts alongside raised gold decorations. The French antique vases date back to the 18th century, with the bronze d’ore mounts added in the latter half of the 19th century. Impressively each top is inscribed on its underside: “Offert par le Duc de Richelieu a la Princesse de Lamballe,” translating to, “Given by the Duke de Richelieu to the Princesse de Lamballe.” The pair also features the mark of the Courtille porcelain manufacturer, an 18th century porcelain producer located in Paris. On the exterior, we find picnic scenes on the fronts and pastoral scenes on the backs. Bronze d’ore flows in plenty with d’ore knobs at top, d’ore handles on either side of each with the face of Bacchus. Finally the pair rests on beautifully chased and detailed d’ore stands.
