This extremely fine Louis XVI mahogany writing table dates back to the 19th century and features detailed bronze d’ore mounts. The piece is most notably signed by Paul Sormani, one of the most famous cabinet makers, originally from Italy, with a shop in Paris in the 1800s. The signature reads, “P. Sormani & Fils 10 r. Charlot, Paris.” Finally, the piece features an inset leather top with a bronze inlay, as well as fluted Louis XVI legs with bronze feet. It’s a stellar example of Sormani’s craftsmanship and style.

19th Century Napoleon III Mahogany Architect’s Table

This fantastic French Napoleon III architect’s table is designed in the Louis XVI manner and dates back to the 19th century. The table is made of mahogany and features a locking cantilever top which angles towards either side. The top is patterned, and surrounded by finely chased bronze, also found throughout the entirety of the piece. Note the detailed bronze at the top and bottom of the legs as well as the spiral work surrounding the cantilever top. This Louis XV “Tric Trac” (backgammon) game table features satinwood veneer and dates back to the 18th century, Circa 1780. The French Antique piece holds a reversible leather/felt top, which rotates to show the playing suface. The piece rests on cabriole legs with bronze mounts on the feet and sides, as well as two small drwaers with bronze pulls. The game of Tric Trac was invented in France around 1500, with the earliest record of the game dating back to 17th century England.
