This fantastic pair of large Louis XVI octagonal lanterns are made of heavy solid bronze and date back to the 19th century. The French pair was originally gas burning and mounted atop a pair of gateposts but has since been converted to the hanging lanterns seen here and wired for electricity. They feature reticulated tops adorned with an acanthus leaf on each side, as well as scroll work at top and bottom. Lastly the bottoms are adorned with acorns and a large pomegranate finial.
