This French, 19th century Louis XVI trumeau is carved, painted, and gilded beautifully. The piece features a pastoral oil painting depicting a maiden with her dog gazing on the bank of a wooded stream. The painting is enveloped in gold leafed details, and flanked by gold leafed pilasters with even more grand, golden elements throughout. Finally, the mirror at bottom is enveloped in the same carved, gold leafed framing.

French 19th Century Louis XVI Gold Leaf Mirror

This gorgeous Louis XVI rectangular mirror is gold leafed, and dates back to the 19th century, circa 1860. The top of the piece features a pair of male and female figures laid back with garlands flowing beneath them. The frame is adorned with carved and gold leafed acanthus leaves, two urns to the outer right and left, and an inset frame which is connected to the outer frame by delicate ribbon work. It’s a detailed and beautiful depiction of hand carving with gold leaf.
