The French antique piece sports the originl brass drawer pulls, and a top decorated with raised Japanese characters, a house in the distance, pagoda, and bridge. The piece is beautifully adorned throughout with flora and fauna. The word chinoiserie Originated in France in the 18th century, meaning “in the Chinese manner”, when anything Chinese or Japanese export was a display of wealth. This is when French furniture was lacquered and decorated with Chinese scenes in figures.

This small Louis XVI desk features beautiful inlaid banding on the fronts of all five drawers as well as detailed bronze escutcheons. The French antique piece dates back to the 19th century and sports the original tooled leather top, accompanied by two tierettes on either side with the same tooled leather top. The piece rests on squared bronze feet at bottom.
