The English antique piece dates back to the 19th century and sports a leather inlaid top. The sides of the desk are inlaid as well, in the Hepplewhite manner. Since it is a partners desk, all drawers open on either side.

This French, 19th century Chinoiserie black lacquer and gilded kneehole desk features an impressive 9 drawer fronts decorated with flora, fauna, pagodas, and classic Japanese scene. The French antique piece sports the originl brass drawer pulls, and a top decorated with raised Japanese characters, a house in the distance, pagoda, and bridge. The piece is beautifully adorned throughout with flora and fauna. The word chinoiserie Originated in France in the 18th century, meaning “in the Chinese manner”, when anything Chinese or Japanese export was a display of wealth. This is when French furniture was lacquered and decorated with Chinese scenes in figures.
