This pair of Louis XVI bergeres are carved and painted, dating back to the 19th century. The French pieces feature block marguerites carved at the top and side of each leg, acanthus leaves on the front and support of each arm, and a beautifully beaded top. Aprons are found on the front and sides, and the fluted legs graduate in size, growing from bottom to top. The pair is upholstered in velvet.

19th Century Louis XVI Walnut Bergere

This classic French Louis XVI bergere is carved from beautiful walnut and dates back to the 19th century. The top of the contoured back features pristinely carved roses and leaves, alongside floriate carvings throughout. The sides, back, and seat are caned, with upholstery on top of each arm. Square “Marguerites” can be found carved at the top and side of each fluted leg, which are themselves graduated in size towards the bottom. The piece is delicately detailed and well balanced, a true depiction of French artistry in the 19th century.
