This 19th century French chandelier is an immaculate example of Sevres Porcelain in lighting. Sevres, both a city in France and one of the most highly regarded porcelain manufacturers is known for just that, creating immaculate porcelain. The stamp of Sevres is marked by two intercrossing L’s, occasionally with a letter to note either the painter or date. The piece is densely adorned with delicate brushstrokes. Scenes of a couple planting a tree, a gentleman playing music for a woman, and a picnic outing interlace the porcelain with the floral motif. It’s incredibly fine artistry is exemplified in every part of the piece. The bronze sports a magnificent acanthus leaf motif and the chandelier has an impressive 24 lights.
