This Pair of French three light sconces are made of beautiful bronze d’ore, and date back to the 19th century. The sconces have finely chiseled arms, and horn of plenty bases which are embellished with a floriate decoration at the top, and acanthus leaves at the bottom. The arms feature bronze drippers and candle cups adorned with acanthus leaves, as well as bronze bobeches of acanthus leaves, edged with beads. Lastly, the central stem features spiraled flutung, mirrored in the fluting in the arms.

French 19th Century Single Bronze Sconce

This French single light bronze sconce dates back to the late 19th century and features a multitude of details. The ornately cast arm ends in a cut glass globe, with the bulb as the staymen of the flower. The positioning of the downward facing bulb (impossible in candle burning fixtures) reflects the novelty of the electric light, invented shortly before this piece was created. The casting features whimsical details; note the face on the back plate, the face on the arm looking downward with the light, and the additional face on the arm near the backplate. The crescent shaped arm offers great movement and balance, combining with the floral bulb light to produce a beautiful French fixture.
