Exquisite French 19 Century Louis XVI Mahogany Grand Buffet a Deux Corps, Signed

Exquisite French 19th century Louis XVI mahogany grand buffet a` deux corps, with marble top and bronze d’ore` mounts. This grand cabinet has French doors on the top and bottom. The doors have bronze d’ore knobs and escutcheons. There are bronze d’ore` swags and festoons across the top, a d’ore` egg and dart pattern, and a centered face framed with oak leaves and acorns. On either side of bottom half there are mounts in the shape of drapes with fringe, framed in beads on either side, as well as the top and bottom. The front of the center drawer is richly adorned with heavy bronze d’ore` fleurettes in circles, the whole in beaded frame. The piece rests on carved and fluted, round mahogany feet, with bronze d’ore` capitals of acanthus leaves, and acanthus leaves at bottom with bronze bun feet.

The piece features a female figure on either side wearing an Egyptian headdress, classic to the Empire style. Round white enamel clock face is flanked on either side by patinated bronze cherubs. The piece is crowned with a gorgeous bronze d’ore eagle, embellished with bronze d'ore details, and finished with a fantastically detailed bronze d'ore face which operated as the clocks pendulum. 19th Century French Louis XVI Hand-Carved Gilt Bevelled Mirror

This Louis XVI hand-carved mirror is truly magnificent. The piece dates back to the 19th century and is gilt, meaning simply yet elegantly that it’s covered in gold leaf, and features a beveled center and side panels. The top is adorned with a pair of birds on a wreath, a flaming torch, quivered arrows, and finally gorgeous garlands cascading over either side.  The piece may have originally been created as a wedding gift as a pair of birds were depicted to symbolize love and were most often seen included in gifts for newlyweds. The flame and arrows were symbols as well, for longevity and justice respectively.

18th Century Austrian Hand-Carved and Painted Cabinet Accented with Gold Leaf

This 18th Century Austrian painted cabinet is absolutely exquisite. The piece features raised panels on the sides, raised floral elements are covered in gold leaf and head to the pedestals with acanthus leaves and scroll work. A carved crest and urn sit at the top of the piece with ribbons of joining tassels flowing to the exterior. The cabinet is adorned with gold leaf accented paintings, features unusually curved shelves originally used to display fine dish-ware, and finally features the beautiful original glass. The glass has ‘settled,’ giving it the subtle waves in the reflections seen here not as imperfections, but a delicate portrayal of time and history.

Regence Painted Buffet à Deux Corps, Early 18th Century

This early 18th Century painted Buffet a Deux Corps is truly immaculate. The piece is a true period piece, made in the Regence era when Louis XV was too young of age to rule so the country was ruled temporarily by King Phillipe D’Orleans. The cabinet is hand painted and hand carved with beautiful detail and features two open shelves on the sides and a pull out drawer in the center. Its rare to see the hand-carved elements on top of the piece present and in this condition given its 18th century origins. The hardware is original to the piece, as are the six doors.
