Pair of Gold-Leafed Louis XVI Consoles Stamped “Krieger”

This pair of late 19th century Louis XVI free-standing consoles are both beautiful and unique. The Demi-lune (translated to half moon) consoles are most notably stamped by the artists “Kreiger.” The pieces are gold leafed and possess the original Carrara marble. The carving is beautiful, fluted legs are joined by an urn adorned apron. Ribbons of foliage flow under the marble, and details abound throughout.The piece has been retouched with silver leaf on the flower of each apron as well as he petals on the center of the stretcher. This would be a welcome and rare addition to any collection.

This grand French Aubusson Verdure Tapestry dates back to the 18th century and features an exotic landscape with mythical animals. A long legged bird forages amidst exotic blossoming foliage at the center. Behind it rests a grand hillside with castle flying its standards. Branches of tall flowering trees are spread throughout, behind them a crested flying bird is revealed. The piece is woven in silk and wool with a green trim in the bottom border. Fine French Louis XVI Writing Table, Signed “P. Sormani & Fils,” 19th Century

This extremely fine Louis XVI mahogany writing table dates back to the 19th century and features detailed bronze d’ore mounts. The piece is most notably signed by Paul Sormani, one of the most famous cabinet makers, originally from Italy, with a shop in Paris in the 1800s. The signature reads, “P. Sormani & Fils 10 r. Charlot, Paris.” Finally, the piece features an inset leather top with a bronze inlay, as well as fluted Louis XVI legs with bronze feet. It’s a stellar example of Sormani’s craftsmanship and style.

French 19th Century Regule Sculpture of Three Cherubs

This French sculpture of three cherubs is made of Regule and dates back to the 19th century. The piece is signed, ‘Livi,’ and its use of Regule signifies its creation during a period of war in France, Circa 1875, when bronze was rationed. The center cherub is pictured crushing grapes, making wine and playing a tambourine. Flanked on his right and left are two dancing cherubs, one of which has kicked over an urn of wine.

Set of Four 19th Century Louis XV Bronze d’Ore Sconces Stamped H D 1885

This magnificent set of four French Louis XV sconces are made of beautiful bronze d’ore and date back to the 19th century. Each sconce is stamped on back, “H D 1885,” and offers beautiful details; note the bronze d’ore drippers edged with beads, candle cups, and circular bobeches of acanthus leaves.  The back-plate features Pan playing his pipes, a symbol of unity and joy. Acanthus leaves drape from Pan’s waist to the scrolling arms, further scrolling elements rest below, adorned with acanthus leaves, ending with double fleurettes on either side. Finally, vines are featured growing from a bow ribbon in the middle, spiraling to acorn finials at the very end.

The French antique piece dates back to the 19th century, and is adorned with acanthus leaves and a detailed allegorical face at the top of each leg, which land on lions’ paw feet.  The desk is inlaid with a gold-tooled leather writing surface framed in bronze d’ore, with a fantastic d’ore face at either end.
