Pair of Gold-Leafed Louis XVI Consoles Stamped “Krieger”

This pair of late 19th century Louis XVI free-standing consoles are both beautiful and unique. The Demi-lune (translated to half moon) consoles are most notably stamped by the artists “Kreiger.” The pieces are gold leafed and possess the original Carrara marble. The carving is beautiful, fluted legs are joined by an urn adorned apron. Ribbons of foliage flow under the marble, and details abound throughout.The piece has been retouched with silver leaf on the flower of each apron as well as he petals on the center of the stretcher. This would be a welcome and rare addition to any collection.

Black marble with white veining sits at top of each as they rest on carved, fluted legs.
