Signed Pair of 19th Century Meissen Sweet Meat Dishes

Pair of 19th century Meissen sweet meat dishes: one in the form of a reclining gentleman, the other in the form of a reclining lady with one bare breast – the style of the 18th century. The sweet meat dishes are exquisitely decorated with rose, and gold, on a white background.

These dishes were used after dinner for sweets, or confections. They are intricately decorated with gold button and lace cuffs on the male figure, and gold pearl.

The interior of each dish, and the jacket of the male, as well as the dress of the female, are of the same floral rose-on-white design, and the female is draped in a solid rose stole.

The piece is signed on the base.
