French 19th Century Louis XVI Faux-Marbre Pedestal

This fine Louis XVI hand carved pedestal features a faux-marbre finish and egg and dart carved trim on top. The wooden French antique piece dates back to the19th century and is embellished with acanthus leaves at the top corners interspersed with fluting. The piece is quite tall, over four feet in height, and wider at the top than bottom providing a sense of lightness and balance. The carved circle at center further emphasizes this sense of stability.
