French Louis XVI Mantel with Rare “Vert d’Estours” Marble
This 19th Century French Louis XVI mantel features fantastic “Vert d’Estours” marble, a rare marble seldom found today, especially in the form of a mantel. The marble has a clear tint, being veined in green on a white background, note the diagonal movement in the veining throughout the piece, seen best in the above shot. The piece features straight vertical line carvings on each of the two side panels, and straight horizontal line carvings on the apron below the marble shelf. Its simple design allows the eye to focus on the beauty of the rare and unique marble.
