French 18th Century Louis XV Century Walnut Armoire

This gorgeous Louis XV two door walnut armoire features a classic curved chapeau-de-gendarme top. Uniquely, both the name and curving shape of the top is inherited from the French military hats of the 1700s. The French antique period piece dates back to the 18th Century and plays host to spectacular floriate carvings on both doors, as well as a vertical floriate carving through the center. Additional carvings are found in the apron at bottom, and along the curved top. Hand chased hinges accompany both doors, and a beautiful escutcheon rests on the left door. Finally, the piece is supported by short cabriole legs with scroll feet, classic to the Louis XV style.
