French Late 19th Century Bronze & Crystal Louis XV Chandelier

This Louis XV bronze chandelier is draped with beautifully cut crystal plaquettes and crystal stars as well as a crystal bowl at top and bottom. The French antique piece dates back to the early 20th century and plays host to a bird cage shape, classic to the Louis XV style. The three lights are pointing down, a design element to show the novelty of electric light at the piece’s creation. This was a display of status at the time since few people had access to electricity upon its invention.
