Fine French Louis XVI Writing Table, Signed “P. Sormani & Fils,” 19th Century

This extremely fine Louis XVI mahogany writing table dates back to the 19th century and features detailed bronze d’ore mounts. The piece is most notably signed by Paul Sormani, one of the most famous cabinet makers, originally from Italy, with a shop in Paris in the 1800s. The signature reads, “P. Sormani & Fils 10 r. Charlot, Paris.” Finally, the piece features an inset leather top with a bronze inlay, as well as fluted Louis XVI legs with bronze feet. It’s a stellar example of Sormani’s craftsmanship and style.

This fantastic French Napoleon III architect’s table is designed in the Louis XVI manner and dates back to the 19th century. The table is made of mahogany and features a locking cantilever top which angles towards either side.
