The French antique piece sports the originl brass drawer pulls, and a top decorated with raised Japanese characters, a house in the distance, pagoda, and bridge. The piece is beautifully adorned throughout with flora and fauna. The word chinoiserie Originated in France in the 18th century, meaning “in the Chinese manner”, when anything Chinese or Japanese export was a display of wealth. This is when French furniture was lacquered and decorated with Chinese scenes in figures.

The desk is inlaid with a gold-tooled leather writing surface framed in bronze d’ore, with a fantastic d’ore face at either end.
