French Late 19th Century Glass Melon Globe Lantern

This French hanging lantern dates back to the late 19th century and features a glass melon globe as the central piece. These glass globes were used as miniature green houses to protect plants from cold weather, and in this case has been converted into a light fixture. The piece features three lights suspended from a central stem, three pieces of chain which attach the crown to a bronze ring, holding the glass globe. Finally, a finial at bottom and glass plate at top bookend the fixture.
