This extremely fine Louis XVI mahogany writing table dates back to the 19th century and features detailed bronze d’ore mounts. The piece is most notably signed by Paul Sormani, one of the most famous cabinet makers, originally from Italy, with a shop in Paris in the 1800s. The signature reads, “P. Sormani & Fils 10 r. Charlot, Paris.” Finally, the piece features an inset leather top with a bronze inlay, as well as fluted Louis XVI legs with bronze feet. It’s a stellar example of Sormani’s craftsmanship and style.

Fantastic 19th Century Boulle, Red Tortoiseshell Desk with Bronze Mounts

The desk is created in the style of Louis XV with cabriole legs, each mounted with a female allegorical figure. The red tortoiseshell top is embellished beautifully with brass depictions of Diana the Huntress riding her chariot pulled by horses, alongside floriate details and scroll work. The front, sides, and legs all feature the tortoise shell and brass inlay, with the legs ending in winged and scrolled bronze feet and the top wrapped in patterned bronze. 19th Century Napoleon III Mahogany Architect’s Table

The table is made of mahogany and features a locking cantilever top which angles towards either side.
