This fine French 18th century panetiere, or bread box, features elaborately carved walnut with a serpentine finialed top. The central cupboard features an ornate fruit basket and is embellished with a large and finely chased escutcheon flanked by spindled sides. The top and bottom also feature delicately carved urns with garlands and flowers. The piece stands on cabrioled legs and scrolled feet, a combination of detail and artistry which is still in fantastic shape since its creation in the late 1700s.
